Espoo wellness travel businesses’ achievements recognised by Visit Finland

Three Espoo businesses have been selected among Visit Finland’s Top 25 wellness travel businesses in Finland. Honkalintu, Nuuksion Taika – Magic of Nuuksio and Piece of Forest will all be invited to join Visit Finland’s international sales and marketing activities across Europe and Asia. Wellness travel is expected to further accelerate growth in Finland’s booming travel market.

Finland’s best wellness travel products were chosen by Visit Finland’s national FinRelax growth programme. Honkalintu was recognised for its highly sustainable and truly unique tentsile tree tent accommodation. In summer 2017, visitors will be able to spend a night in a tree in Nuuksio National Park, close to the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia. Nuuksion Taika – Magic of Nuuksio and was praised for the company’s wellness concept that offers visitors fresh air, lakeside charm and campfire atmosphere along with a chance to experience the authentic Finnish sauna tradition. Piece of Forest was shortlisted for a product that invites visitors to take part in relaxation exercises and discover the health and well-being benefits offered by the natural world. In addition, an honourable mention was given to mushroom foraging trips in Espoo and Sipoo, run by Sieniretki Y.

For Visit Finland, wellness travel represents a significant growth opportunity. Currently, wellness travel is the fastest growing segment across the world, with visitor numbers increasing by 14% year-on-year. The FinRelax programme awarded its star product status to 25 wellness products along with honourable mentions for a further 10 businesses. The three Espoo-based companies were the only businesses in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area to be selected for the Top 25 shortlist. Announced at the Matka Nordic Travel Fair, the winning products will be actively promoted as part of Visit Finland’s sales and marketing programme, with a particular focus on the European and Asian markets.

Honkalintu and Nuuksion Taika – Magic of Nuuksio form part of NuuksioResort, a collaboration between 19 local businesses, set up to make it easier for international travellers in particular to discover the visitor services on offer in Nuuksio National Park. Feel the Nature and Hawkhill Nature, also members of NuuksioResort, have previously been awarded Visit Finland’s star product status.
