Tapiola Sports Park will become a multi-purpose sports and leisure venue of international standard.
Overhaul of Tapiola Sports Park
Plans for a comprehensive overhaul of Tapiola Sports Park are being drawn up with the park’s current managers. The plans are due to be finished by June 2016, and they will then be used as the basis for drawing up a new detailed local plan for the entire area. Questions to be answered during the planning process include the fate of the lot allocated to a new football stadium in the current detailed local plan, the development of the area around the underground station, and linking the area to the centre of Tapiola via Jousenkaari. Tapiola Sports Park will become a multi-purpose sports and leisure venue of international standard, as well as an attractive, modern area that will tie in seamlessly with Tapiola’s garden city concept and provide the entire underground network access to a wide range of sports services.

The Sports Park will cater extensively for football, and space will also be allocated to indoor sports facilities. Parking will be provided in shared car parks along the Koivu-Mankkaa road. The idea is for the car parks to be shared between the sports facilities, local residents, and businesses. The car parks will be built and managed by the City of Espoo. |
